NCA’s Legislative Agenda

As a not for profit professional association, NCA’s core values are to provide legislative leadership, inspire creativity, embrace life-long learning, and give back to our personal and professional communities.

OUR LEGISLATIVE AGENDA SUPPORTS

  • The ongoing requirements for licensure of all salon professionals;
  • Various state regulations that promote safety and sanitation in the salon;
  • Fair and equitable taxation of salons and individual cosmetologists;
  • Requirements for mandatory continuing education for re-licensure; and
  • The provision of adequate funding from license revenue to support salon inspections and the enforcement of current regulations.

State Licensing Requirements - Need to know what each state requires for licensure?  Click here for a complete state-by-state list of hours needed for cosmetology, esthetics and nail technology licenses, and State Board contact information. An amazing resource, courtesy of Pivot Point International.

Revised requirements for victims of Katrina - Click here for a list of revisions or proposed revisions from specific states for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The states listed are those that have responded to a request from NCA and the Beauty Associations for Katrina Relief Coalition to modify their current regulation to assist those in need. NCA has been working as part of the Coalition to enourage states to assist Katrina victims with licensing issues if they have been forced to relocate.
