NCA Receives National Recognition

The National Cosmetology Association (NCA) was recently named to the 2005 Associations Advance America Honor Roll for its involvement in the CUT IT OUT domestic abuse education program for salon professionals.

The Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards recognize associations that advance American society with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, citizenship and community service.

In a letter of recognition to NCA President Josephine Zeppieri, John H. Graham, president and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), noted "Your program is a perfect example of how associations play a vital role in helping the nation adapt to complex changing times Contributions such as yours are vital and add real value to society."

CUT IT OUT is a program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States. CUT IT OUT builds awareness of domestic abuse and trains salon professionals to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to local resources.

The NCA, Clairol Professional and Southern Living At HOME joined forces to bridge the gap between a victim and assistance she needs, through the salon professional.
