NCA of Minnesota Donates to the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund
The National Cosmetology Association of Minnesota held a Gala Dinner and Silent Auction at the Heartland Beauty Expo, Minneapolis, MN, that raised more than $2,000 for the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund (SADAF). Proceeds from the Gala were designated specifically to The Day One Center in St. Paul, MN that provides shelter information, including availability and services, to abused women and their children in the greater Twin Cities area.
“On behalf of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund, we commend NCA of Minnesota for the important work you do,” said Marlene Bridge, president of the SADAF. Attendees enjoyed an evening of awards and recognition, dinner and dancing, spearheaded by NCA of Minnesota Board members Kelly Kiekow, Sandy Vittori and Fran Sticha.
The Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund is dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United Stats. CUT IT OUT™, a program of the SADAF, builds awareness of domestic abuse and trains salon professionals to recognize warning signs and safely refer clients to local resources. CUT IT OUT is a partnership between the National Cosmetology Association, Clairol Professional, and Southern Living At Home magazine.
Membership in NCA is open to licensed salon professional and student hairdressers, estheticians, nail technicians, salon owners, school owners and cosmetology educators.
