EstheticsAmerica/CIDESCO USA & American Spa Expo
EstheticsAmerica/CIDESCO USA, a newly formed skincare division of the National Cosmetology Association (NCA), the world’s largest community of salon and spa professionals, partnered with American Spa Expo to host the 54th CIDESCO World Congress on April 17-19, 2005, in New York City.
More than 500 of the world’s leading estheticians, spa professionals and international delegates attended the CIDESCO World Congress for an opportunity to participate in an international event totally dedicated to the art and science of esthetics and related beauty therapies.
Following are highlights from the successful three-day conference:
- Leaders of the esthetics industry attended a VIP Reception on Sunday, April 17 to celebrate the launch of NCA’s EstheticsAmerica/CIDESCO USA for skincare and spa professionals. EstheticsAmerica members automatically become members of CIDESCO, the world’s leading international association of beauty therapists.
- The EstheticsAmerica’s Leadership Council hosted the by-invitation-only VIP Reception. Members include: Honorary Chairperson, Lydia Sarfati of Sarkli-Repêchage® Ltd; Elise Wessels of CIDESCO; Dr. Mark Lees of Mark Lees Skin Care; Elena Solitario of Pilo Arts Day Spa & Salon; Elaine Sterling of Spa Sydell; Cheryl Tricoci of Mario Tricoci/Red Door Salons and Spas and Carolyn Corporon of Beauty Systems Group, reception sponsor. The event featured a booking signing by Lydia Sarfati, author of Success at Your Fingertips.
- A Gala Crystal Ball, hosted by EstheticsAmerica/CIDESCO USA and American Spa Expo, was held immediately following the VIP Reception to honor CIDESCO World President, Helene Bramwell and the Congress delegates.
- The CIDESCO Board of Directors received a crystal award in recognition of their ongoing dedication to “illuminating the world through beauty” from Lydia Sarfati, EstheticsAmerica Chairman. Honorees included: President Bramwell, Anna-Cari Gund, Mr. Kyriacos Poupoutsis, Josephine Wackett, Dianne Miles and Ronelle Iten.
- Kérastase Paris sponsored the gala dinner, while Takara-Belmont sponsored the lavish décor.
- Intensive educational workshops on the newest techniques and scientific developments in esthetics, as well as a variety of related subjects relevant to estheticians, beauty therapists, salon and spa owners were offered at the Congress.
- Keynote presentations by Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Felicia Milewicz, Beauty Director of Glamour Magazine, and a special performance by the Harlem Gospel Choir added to the excitement of the international event.
- American Spa Expo also featured more than 200 spa and skin care exhibitors, and a New Age Visions Pavilion with retail products for wellness, harmony and aromatherapy. In addition, the Spa Business Development Conference presented three educational tracks on Spa Management and Marketing, Spa Development and Medical Spas, with complimentary admission to attendees.
