Future Plans:
The participating associations understand the immediate needs of displaced professionals are critical. Social service and government agencies are working to bring immediate relief and the beauty associations encourage support of these agencies.
However, the associations realize a long-term need to help re-establish businesses and careers in the devastated areas will become more critical over the next months. It is this rebuilding phase where the associations believe the salon industry can truly help the most.
To achieve this long-term goal, the associations
- Plan a focused, all-industry fund-raising effort to raise money and support affected salons. Information on how to participate will be provided on the website www.probeautycares.org. Dates and details will be announced shortly.
- Encourage all companies, groups, salons and individuals in the salon industry to participate in this effort by donating to the Relief Fund/Katrina, and by working with their individual associations to help us reach our industry-wide goal of $5 million.

A message from Sam Brocato, Chairman, Beauty Associations for Katrina Relief and NCA Disaster Relief Fund/Katrina
“This coordinated effort by our industry’s associations to raise $5 million,” says Chairman Sam Brocato, “provides us all with a unique opportunity to help our own. Only by working together can we hope to raise the much-needed funds that will help rebuild beauty in this once vibrant area of the country and, in doing so, strengthen our entire industry.
“Our sole goal,” added Brocato, “is to make this region of our country, and the hard working salon professionals in it, once again able to provide the vital beauty services upon which their clients and customers depend, and truly need now more than ever. We thank you for whatever support you can give.”
