2005 NCA Premiere Talent Search Results Available
The National Cosmetology Association (NCA) recently hosted the NCA Premiere Talent Search, a series of fashion-directed hairdressing competitions, at the Premiere/Orlando Show. The competitions offered new, young talented stylists a chance to compete by showing their unique talents and technical abilities.
Categories for competition at NCA’s Premiere Talent Search included ladies’ cut, color and style; long hair up-do; long hair; ethnic fashionable evening; full-fashion makeup; and ladies’ full fashion and color. The men’s competitions for talent included men’s cut, color and style categories. (Editor’s Note: go to www.ncacares.org to download complete results of the NCA Premiere Talent Search for Student, Novice and Professional divisions.)
All competitions were performed on mannequins, except the Full Fashion and Full Fashion Makeup categories. Using high quality mannequins instead of live models proved to be a cost effective way for competitors to get involved in the NCA Premiere Talent Search. Sources like Pivot Point International are available to competitors mannequins made specifically for competition.
NCA would like to thank the major corporations who believe in the benefits of sponsoring competitions among students and salon professionals. The following companies offered cash and scholarship prizes awarded to winners in the NCA Talent Search: Avlon; Farouk Systems; Great Clips; Haircolorxperts; JC Penney Salons, Inc.; Pivot Point International; Ratner Companies; Sally Beauty Company; Toni & Guy; Vidal Sassoon Academies; and Wella American Classics.
