NCA Inducts Mary Ann Graffeo Into Hall of Renown
By special proclamation, the Board of Directors and the members of the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) inducted Mary Ann Graffeo of Arlington Heights, IL into the NCA Hall of Renown. Ceremonies took place during the NCA’s Summer Education & Leadership Event, August 27, 2005 in Orlando, FL.
The Hall of Renown is one of the 25,000-member professional association’s most prestigious honors and was presented to Graffeo in recognition of her more than 43-years of outstanding achievements in the field of esthetics. Graffeo’s dedication to esthetics resulted in the establishment of NCA’s EstheticsAmerica as a separate entity as well as the tremendous growth of esthetics education in her home state of Illinois. With her influence, Illinois became one of the first to offer esthetics in the continuing education program and help galvanize legislation for separate licensing for estheticians.
“Mary Ann Graffeo realized the educational opportunities offered through the NCA, where she became involved and began a life long commitment to association work,” said NCA President Josephine Zeppieri, on presenting the award. “She represented the EstheticsAmerica section as a member of the 1989 Fall/Winter Design Team and through learning and sharing, she developed and provided a firm foundation from which to build. The members of NCA will be forever grateful for her continued commitment and unparalleled enthusiasm for her profession.”
