NCA Meets with State Legislators

NCA exhibits at the event each year as a part of its ongoing efforts to maintain professional status of the salon professional through grassroots legislative activism, a cornerstone of the association’s mission for more than 80 years.

This year NCA distributed more than 2,000 attendee gift bags featuring products donated by NCA President’s Advisory Council member companies including: Avancé/ECRU, EOH Industries, OPI, Profound Beauty, Pureology, Redken and Sally Beauty. Attendees also received an NCA Government Affairs handbook including important demographic data related to the professional beauty industry, as well a list of regulatory and legislative ideals supported by NCA.

“Attending the conference,” said Mark Goodman, NCA Director and Chairman of the NCA Legislative Committee, “gives us an important opportunity to meet with both legislators and staff from all 50 states."

“These are the state officials responsible for the laws and regulations that control how we work day to day in our salons,” added Goodman. “NCA invests tens of thousands of dollars annually to constantly monitor legislative and regulatory activity in every state that relates to our industry. We work continually to protect our industry from legislation that can deter our ability to work and make a living in our chosen profession.”
